I want to read a book in March, dammit.

I have done it. I have become the student with the perpetual reading slump, exclaiming loudly and repeatedly to anyone willing to listen: "I can't read for pleasure, I have way too much reading assigned already". Cue the big sigh and a possible arm swing. The dramatic effect of a good swing of an arm is underrated.

Not that being under pressure from uni is a bad thing. I am not judging anyone for choosing academic reading at all - I am judging myself. A lot. So, as the major literature nerd I am, I shall pull the most basic of bookish quotes, curtesy of Persian poets: "This too shall pass".

And it shall pass this month. University degree, hear me roar!

My first victim shall be Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

The choice is made based on a number of things:

1) It is gothic and it is horror - Thus, good potential to be just my kind of tea.

2) It is gothic. That deserves two bullet points, that really is my comfort zone.

3) For all its potential, it manages to be rather small with 301 pages. Therefore, hopes to actually finish it are high.

4) Apparently, this has elements of historical fiction.

5) I have wanted to read this thing for at least a year and I own it.

Also, my less sound reasoning? I have found myself seeking literary comfort in the pages of paranormal romance novels. Which is fine, but that mood has lasted 4 months now and it has to stop.

Wish me luck.
